Decided to write my own blitter to handle the zooming accurately, added in a 16-bit z-buffer whilst I was at it.
Note: That this is a bit slower (Especially sprite intensive games - Daraku and Sol Divide) although I might speed it up by adding a non-zooming blitter and special case for single-tile sprites.
Highlights:
- S1945II: Small subs are back over the water, but ships are under the clouds correctly. Also see level 6/7 and the zooming of the title logo is perfect now.
- Gunbarich: Time and lives counters are back and the cutscenes are still good.
- Daraku: End quotes are visible now
- Space Bomber: Check out level 5-4 boss zooming alpha-blended sprite and watch the now 100% correct attract mode sequence.
- Sol Divide: The tilemap-based fades now work
That only leaves the Linezoom/scroll effects that are missing in the end levels of S1945II/III, that could take some work and a serious speed hit though
Because I want this tested now and the next MAME release date is anyone's guess I am making this available for people to test. Please report any graphical imperfections except for the linescroll/zoom in the last two levels of S1945II and S1945III.
